ABOUT US

The Deyvi Coreas Jr. Foundation inc.

On November 14th, 2020, our son Deyvi, lost his life in a firearm accident. He was a few days from his 18th birthday and a few months from his High School Graduation. Unfortunately, the accessibility to firearms in our country has become a deadly problem in our communities, so much so that in 2020 the CDC listed firearms the #1 cause of death for children under the age of 19 surpassing drug overdose and car accidents (CDC 2020). However, the dangers do not lie on the firearms alone, one of the contributing factors is unsafe guns storage.

It is proven that Safe Gun Storage Saves Lives and our ask is that if you are a gun owner that you be a responsible one.

In 2021 we formed “The Deyvi Coreas Jr. Foundation Inc.” to honor Deyvi’s life. We wish to save lives by education and advocating safe gun storage as well as supporting common sense gun laws. We feel wholeheartedly that items like gun locks, secured gun cases and gun safes can save lives and this it is a fight we can win.

For the past two years our organization has held two community events in which we have provided free gun locks to over 150 families. Along with family friendly entertainment our events have hosted safe gun ownership training as well as first aid training by our qualified partners. By these means we hope to make our communities safer for our children.
